So you'd like to write a comic and publish it online? Let's take a look at the options.

  1. You could link images directly to your favorite message board from a Photobucket account. The major downside is a lack of control over pretty much everything (your thread many be pruned, images may be inaccessible, etc).
  2. You could use a service like Keenspace that offers storage space but little else. The end result in many cases is a visually assaulting design strung together by kludgy JavaScript that must be updated with each new strip.
  3. You could purchase private hosting and install server-side management tools. But where to find a tool that really fits your needs?

I was at that crossroads myself a couple of years ago. While content management has advanced considerably, it's really turned into a jack-of-all-trades market. Sure, you can eventually beat WordPress or PHPBB into something that'll probably work (and some folks have), but it'll be slow and convoluted at best.

That's where "RK Comics Manager" comes in. It's a small (less than 100 lines) but capable applet optimized for only what you need it to do.

  • Upload comics and store them as regular files or database records for extra security.
  • Effortlessly navigate your archive with our easy to use (and customize) viewer.
  • Quickly search your entire site for special keywords that you select.
  • Available for both PHP and ASP.NET! No need to chain yourself to Linux!
